There are hundreds of iPhone errors reported every day and one of the most tedious problems is “iPhone is disabled, connect to iTunes”. Here is one email we got from one iPhone user:
Please help! My iPhone worked fine. All of a sudden, I can’t unlock my iPhone and a message pops out on the screen, saying “iPhone is disabled, connect to iTunes”. How can I solve this problem? Many thanks.
This problem is caused by multiple failed entries. Normally, if you enter 5 incorrect password in a row, the iPhone will be disabled for 1 minute, 7 incorrect entries, 5 minutes; 8 incorrect entries, 15 minutes; 9 incorrect entries, 60 minutes; and for 10 incorrect password entries, iPhone is disabled and would ask you to connect to iTunes.

When you get the message of “iPhone is Disabled, Connect to iTunes”, there is nothing you can do but to connect to iTunes and restore all data in this device, including the password. Before following the steps below, make sure that you have backed up your iPhone via iTunes/iCloud.
Step 1Connect the device to a computer, the one you have once synced with your iPhone, launch iTunes on computer.
Step 2Click the iPhone icon, tap Summary in the left pane. Click Back Up Now to create a new iTunes backup.
Step 3Click Restore from iTunes Backup. Select your device in iTunes and then choose the most recent backup of your iPhone.
If you have never synced your iPhone with iTunes, you might probably run into this situation: “iTunes can’t connect to the device because it has a passcode applied. Enter the passcode before it can connect to iTunes”. You can bypass the disabled screen with iTunes in these steps.
Step 1Turn off iPhone.
Step 2Connect the USB cable to iPhone but DON’T connect it to the computer. Launch iTunes.
Step 3Press and hold the Power button an Home button while plugging in your iDevice back into the computer, by doing so, your iPhone will be put into recovery mode.
Step 4Release the Power button and keep holding the Home button until you see the “Connect to iTunes” as is shown below.
Step 5When you see the option to Restore or Update, choose Restore.
