In this 2016, after upgrading from old iPhone to new iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus, you may want to transfer some apps to your new iPhone 7 to keep using them on your new device. Of course, it would be better if there were some ways to transfer apps with related caches and history data instead of only the apps/games. (Sometimes, the data can be more important then app itself.)
Therefore, the point is how to find a suitable way to correctly transfer app and app data to new iPhone 7? In this post, we offer some methods in which you can move apps and app data to your new device.
Part 1. Transfer Built-in App Data from Old iPhone to New iPhone 7
Your iPhone 7 installed iOS 10 with built-in apps, such as Messages, Contacts, Photos and Phone. You needn't transfer these apps from old iPhone to your new iPhone. But if you want to transfer the caches, history or downloaded files of these apps to your new bought iPhone 7, you have to use some traditional methods, such as iTunes and iCloud.
Take iTunes for example, you can backup your old iPhone to iTunes, and then restore your iPhone 7 with the iTunes backup to transfer all data and settings to your new iPhone 7. In this method, almost all built-in app data will be moved to your new iPhone 7. However, sometimes, it's not wise to transfer everything because it may bring some old iOS problems to your new devices after transferring.
So you may need some other methods, such as AnyTrans, to selectively transfer messages, contacts, photos or other built-in app data between two iPhones. We have posted on how to transfer between two iPhones with AnyTrans: Transfer Everything from Old iPhone to New iPhone 7
Part 2. Transfer Purchased Apps and Data from Old iPhone to New iPhone 7
After logging into AppStore with your Apple ID on your new iPhone 7, you can download purchased apps from your purchased list. In this way, you can transfer some specific apps to your new iPhone.
Go to Purchased App list: Run App Store > Updates > Purchased > Not on This iPhone

But downloading from Purchased list won't transfer app data to your new iPhone 7. And if you want to transfer app data between two iPhones, you have to use iTunes backup or iCloud backup to transfer everything to your new device. And in the transferring process, iTunes and iCloud requires you to erase all data and settings on your iPhone 7. As a result, all backup content will replace the data on your new iPhone 7. If you have something important on your new iPhone 7, make sure to backup them before restoring.
The Bottom Line
Since Apple stopped iOS managing software from accessing third-party app data to improve iOS security after iOS 8.3, there is no transferring tools can move only app data from one iOS device to another iOS 8.3+ device.
