WhatsApp is one of the most popular apps in the world. In order to protect your important WhatsApp data, you may back up WhatsApp data via Google Drive. If you lost WhatsApp data, you can restore it to you iOS or Android device from Google Drive backup. But how to restore WhatsApp data from Google Drive backup to iOS or Android device? With the help of AppTrans, you can make it easily. Please refer to the following guide to make good use of AppTrans.
After launching AppTrans, please choose App Restore - WhatsApp Backup. Then, please click Restore button.
Once you choose WhatsApp Backup option, the interface below will appear. You just need to log in your Google Account.
After log in your Google account successfully, all the backups will display. You can view the content in your backup by clicking View button. To delete the unwanted backup, please click Delete button. You can select a backup and click Restore button to restore WhatsApp data from backup.
If you want to restore calls and messages, you need to decrypt these two types of data. Please click View button. Taking messages for an example, please choose Messages.
Then, please connect your Android device to your computer and click Decrypt Now button.
After that, please follow the instructions to install the WhatsApp Custom Version on your Android device to extract WhatsApp data.
Due to Android restrictions, WhatsApp Official Version won’t allow the third party software to access its data directly. So AppTrans will help install WhatsApp Custom Version temporarily to get access to WhatsApp data.
Please give WhatsApp Custom Version the access permission on your Android device.
Please restore the backup data on the WhatsApp Custom Version of your Android device.
Once your WhatsApp messages are decrypted, you will see the interface below. You can restore them to Android or iOS device. We take restoring WhatsApp messages from Google Drive backup to Android device for an example. Then please click Restore button.
By default, AppTrans will detect your device automatically. If you don’t connect your iOS or Android device to computer or your device is not recognized, you will see the interface below:
Once your Android device is recognized, the interface below will display.

After entering the next step, please open WhatsApp on your Android device > tap button> Settings - Chats - Chat backup to back up WhatsApp messages on your Android device. Please also select Never for Back up to Google Drive option.
Once you click Next button, a message will be popped up, which asks for the request to uninstall WhatsApp Official Version on your Android device and then reinstall WhatsApp Custom Version on it.
After clicking Next button, please go to Settings > App Info > WhatsApp - Permissions - Storage to allow WhatsApp to access phone storage.
After installing WhatsApp Custom Version on your Android device, please log in to your account and then restore WhatsApp from backup.
Once you click Restore button, AppTrans will restore WhatsApp Messages from Google Drive backup to Android device automatically. The time to restore WhatsApp Messages varies based on the amount of messages. Please keep patient.
Once the restoring process is completed, you will see “App restore succeeded” interface. To go back to the home interface, please click Back or OK button.
