2. Tap Screen by Three Fingers at the Same Time

Sometimes, there is a small chance that you don’t have a white screen of death at all. Instead, you may have accidentally turned on screen magnification. In this situation, you may be zoomed super close in on something white which makes it look like a white screen.

If so, what you need to do is turn off magnification: hold three fingers together and then use them to double-tap the screen. If your screen is magnified, this way will bring it back to the normal view.

Or you can turn off magnification in Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom > Off.

3. Hard Reset the iPhone

Restarting the phone may be the most common way to help people to fix the iOS system problem. However, for the iPhone white screen of death, when a regular restart does not help, the user needs to try a hard reset, which is a more powerful restart.

For iPhone 6 and earlier model:

  1. Push down both the Home button and the sleep/wake button at the same time.
  2. Keep holding them until the screen flashes and the Apple logo appears.
  3. Release the buttons and the iPhone will start up like normal.

For iPhone 7/7 Plus:

Force reset iPhone may cause data loss, before doing that you should backup your important data on the computer.

4. Reboot Your iPhone

If hard reset instructions do not work, please try this method which is another way to make your iPhone reboot. But this method is only applicable to iPhone models with a “Home” button. Try:

  1. Press and hold the power button, volume increase button, and home button at the same time.
  2. Keep holding these three buttons until the screen goes dark. A few seconds later the Apple logo should appear.
  3. Once you see the Apple logo, you should release all of the buttons and let the phone load.

5. Enter Recovery Mode

If the methods mentioned above do not fix your problem with the white screen, you need to put your iPhone into recovery mode, then use iTunes to restore it. But it should be noted that entering the recovery mode will result in the loss of device data, so please make sure that you have backed up the data in the device before starting to enter the recovery mode:

iPhone 7 /7Plus: Connect the other end of the cable to your iPhone, at the same time holding down the Volume Down button.

6. Use DFU Mode to Restore Your iPhone

If your iPhone still has not worked, then we suggest moving on to the DFU mode. This is the last step you can completely exclude a software problem. Here are the specific steps:

  1. Connect your iPhone to a computer that has already been installed with iTunes and open iTunes.
  2. Turn off your iPhone, press and hold the “Sleep/Power” button and “Home” button at the same time for about 10 seconds.
  3. After 8 seconds, you can release the “Sleep/Power” button while continuing to hold the Home button until you see “iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode.”
  4. Then release the Home Button and your iPhone screen should be completely black. That means your iPhone entered DFU mode. If not, repeat the process from the beginning. (For iPhone 8/8 Plus, and X, please press and quickly release the volume up button and then press and hold the side button until the screen goes black.)
  5. iTunes can recognize your iPhone and restore the iPhone in iTunes.

7. Contact Apple Support

If you have tried all these methods but still cannot solve the problem, then your phone may have encountered a hardware problem. We recommend that you contact Apple as soon as possible to make an appointment for support at the local Apple Store.
