Are you switching to an iPhone from an Android device and want to transfer all of your WhatsApp messages over to your new device? Well, you have got two easy ways to do that and the following guide shows both of those ways for you.
WhatsApp has become an integral part of our life as it allows us to communicate with our friends and families in an easy and secure manner. With a ton of feature in the app, you can share pretty much everything you want with anyone using the app. The great thing about WhatsApp is that it lets you easily transfer messages from one device to another if you are switching phones.
The company behind WhatsApp knows that people do change phones and so they have made it easier for their users to move WhatsApp data from Android to iPhone and vice versa. The following post teaches how to restore WhatsApp backup from Android to iPhone. Read on to learn.
Unless you have never created a backup of your WhatsApp messages, you’d know that the app allows you to create and save a backup of your messages on Google Drive. What’s more, Google Drive works on both Android and iPhone, therefore, you can restore the WhatsApp backup you have created using an Android device on your iPhone.
The following shows how to create a backup on your Android device and then restore it on your iPhone using Google Drive:
Step 1Launch the WhatsApp app on your Android device. Then go to Settings Menus > Chats Settings Menus > Chat Backup. Tap on it to open your chat backup settings menu.
Step 2On the screen that follows, tap on the green button that says Back Up to start backing up your WhatsApp messages to Google Drive.
Step 3After the backup is created, uninstall the WhatsApp app on your Android device.
Step 4Install and launch the WhatsApp app on your iPhone. Set it up as you would using the same phone number you had on your Android device. It will prompt you to restore the backup from your Google Drive account. Allow it to do so.
There you go. Your WhatsApp data will be restored on your iPhone.
WhatsApp provides you with another option to help you transfer WhatsApp data from Android to iPhone. In this method, it sends your entire chat history to your iPhone via email. That way you get all the content transferred from your Android device to your iPhone.
The following shows how to do it:
Step 1Launch the WhatsApp app on your Android device. Then go to Settings Menus > Chats Settings Menus > Chat History.
Step 2When you get to the chat history screen, you will see an option that reads Export chat. Tap on it and it will let you export chats.
Step 3On the following screen, you will be asked to choose a contact whose chat history you want to export. Select a contact and then choose Email (or Gmail, if you use it) to email the entire chat history to an email address.
Step 4Open the inbox of the email account you sent your chat history to your iPhone and you will be able to view your WhatsApp data on your iPhone.
That’s how you can restore WhatsApp backup from Android to iPhone using the email.
While switching phones, the biggest headache is to get your data transferred over to the new phone. With the help of the above guide, you should be able to easily transfer WhatsApp data from your Android device over to an iPhone without a hitch.
